Lukashenko reminded about Belarusian People’s Congress control powers: outlines of five-year plan and personnel decisions
Today, the President of Belarus, Chairman of the Belarusian People’s Congress Aleksandr Lukashenko is holding a session of the Presidium of the Belarusian People’s Congress, with one of the issues under discussion dealing with the new constitutional control powers of the Belarusian People’s Congress
The Head of State noted that for the first time, delegates would hear the PM’s report on the implementation of the country’s socio-economic development programmes, “In his speech, the Head of Government should not only report on the work done, but also outline the strategy of the socio-economic development programme for the coming five-year period.”
The Belarusian People’s Congress will also have to make a number of personnel decisions for the first time, Aleksandr Lukashenko continued. Thus, according to the procedure, the President submits candidates for judges of higher courts to the Presidium for approval.
“You have the list. The chairpersons of the Constitutional and Supreme Courts will represent these people. If you support them, we will include the issue of their election in the agenda of the meeting,” the Head of State noted.
