Lukashenko: recent election in Belarus evidence that we drew conclusions from our mistakes

The recent Presidential election in the republic is evidence that Belarusians have drawn conclusions from their mistakes – as noted by Head of State Aleksandr Lukashenko at a meeting with representatives of the country's religious denominations

During the meeting, on behalf of all those present, Metropolitan Veniamin of Minsk and Zaslavl, Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus, congratulated Aleksandr Lukashenko on his re-election as President, “The results of the past election clearly demonstrate the fidelity of the chosen path of the country’s development, the high level of trust and solidarity among our citizens who love their country, value order and peace. More importantly, the election results mean the preservation of peace and stability in the Belarusian land at a time when humanity is getting deeper into the abyss of interstate and global conflicts.”

Aleksandr Lukashenko thanked for the congratulations, “This is our common achievement. We conducted the election in a way that is not observed anywhere else. I dreamed about that, and it happened. People came [to vote] and surprised all those who gathered to observe the election. The election is evidence that we have drawn conclusions from the mistakes made by our society – by me, the government, and you, among others. We have done a good job to correct the mistakes.”
