Lukashenko, Putin discussed agenda for St. Petersburg visit

The presidents of Belarus and Russia, Aleksandr Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin, discussed a programme of events scheduled for the upcoming visit of the Belarusian Head of State to St. Petersburg – as informed by the Belarusian leader’s press service, BelTA reports

“Another telephone conversation – with the President of Russia – was held today [December 25th] by the Head of Belarus. Aleksandr Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin discussed the programme of events during the Belarusian President’s visit to St. Petersburg," the press service informed.

The conversation touched upon topical issues of co-operation between Belarus and Russia, including in the defence sphere, and other issues.

As previously reported, Aleksandr Lukashenko will pay a working visit to Russia on December 28th-29th.

On December 28th, the President of Belarus will take part in an informal meeting of the CIS heads of state in St. Petersburg. The leaders will sum up the results of Belarus' presidency in the Commonwealth in 2021, exchange views on solving common pressing problems, and discuss further measures to enhance effectiveness of co-operation and socio-economic development of the CIS member states. The upcoming meeting is significant also because the Commonwealth of Independent States is celebrating its 30th anniversary in December.

On December 29th, Aleksandr Lukashenko is scheduled to meet with the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin. The heads of state will discuss topical issues of Belarusian-Russian co-operation.
