Lukashenko: prices for imported goods should be affordable for our citizens
Import of goods to Belarus should be under the strictest control – as noted by the President at a meeting on pricing issues. In particular, the Head of State pointed to a decrease in retail trade turnover (according to the results of last year, it amounted to 96.3 percent compared to 2021).
“We managed to prevent empty shelves and restore the diversity of the assortment due to the arrival of new suppliers on the Belarusian market, mainly from Russia and Türkiye, which are friendly to us. Anyway, this is no reason to be complacent. Prices for imported goods should be affordable for our citizens, especially if we do not produce something ourselves. That is, imports should also be under the strictest severe control; otherwise, they are able to fail the entire domestic market,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
