Lukashenko presenting State Quality Mark – first in history of sovereign Belarus
The purpose of the revived tradition to award the Quality Mark to the best goods is to create a mechanism for internal competition, President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko noted during today’s State Quality Mark awarding ceremony
Addressing the participants of the ceremony, the President emphasised that any sovereign state should have serious traditions. In this regard, he expressed the hope that such a landmark day in every sense (exactly one year ago the State Quality Mark – an attribute of official recognition – was established) will become a similar tradition.
“In a few minutes, we will name the first holders of such a high award in the history of our young independent state. These are brands known to everyone, of which we proudly say: ‘Made in Belarus’. They have passed a strict selection to meet the criteria of innovation, technology, safety and a number of others,” the Belarusian leader pointed out.
The list of winners includes famous vehicles and products loved by millions of people on different continents; baby food; products made of Belarusian flax, one of our national symbols.… The President rightly noted that the list of nominees could have been even longer, “There are many worthy ones. Almost 220 manufacturing organisations took part in the competition, and 660 claimed to receive the distinctive mark. It was a competition of the strongest and of equals. And the victory is all the more precious.”
The Republican Attestation Commission and the strictest judges — about 50,000 Belarusian consumer citizens – have determined 17 most iconic domestic products.
“The purpose of the revived tradition is to create a mechanism of internal competition whereby retaining this badge of honour becomes as important and perhaps even more difficult than obtaining it,” Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasised.
The Head of State has supported the idea of establishing a single State Quality Mark in Belarus in November 2023. The discussion about what the Belarusian Quality Mark should be was held at a meeting with Lukashenko’s participation on January 5th, 2024, which was declared the Year of Quality in Belarus.
The President signed Decree No. 21 On the State Quality Mark dated January 18th, 2024.
