Lukashenko: post-Soviet countries should be interested in rapprochement with Union State

The President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, in a video address to the participants of the 9th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia, which is taking place in Grodno, drew attention to the fact that the Union State of Belarus and Russia at the present stage plays the role of a locomotive in the general flow of integration processes

“It is an example, a model of cultural and economic interstate co-operation,” Aleksandr Lukashenko noted. “Today, the countries of the post-Soviet space should be sincerely interested in rapprochement with the Union State, if, of course, they want to preserve their sovereignty and independence. We have seen that only together can we face global challenges. For the time being, those who still have doubts should understand that without the speedy unity and rallying, without strengthening of interstate ties and simply normal human relations, we may not exist tomorrow.”

The Belarusian Head of State wished the forum participants successful and fruitful activities for the benefit of the peoples of Belarus and Russia, “In the future, we should strive to make this platform the centre of attraction for interregional initiatives.”
