Lukashenko points to insufficient level of CIS mutual support in some cases

At the CIS summit in Astana, President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko pointed out to lack of mutual support within the CIS in a number of cases, BelTA reports

“So far, alas, I have to state the absence of mutual support in a number of cases. Principled national positions continue to hinder effective joint opposition to Western sanctions pressure,” the Belarusian Head of State noted.

He added that, unfortunately, many interethnic and territorial disputes remained within the post-Soviet space, which, among other things, were discussed at the summit. “These are the disputes that the Soviet Union could not or did not have time to resolve. At present, external players are making incredible efforts to turn every, even the most insignificant, dispute into a heated confrontation,” the Belarusian leader noted.
