Lukashenko outlined two main ways to develop Belarus’ manufacturing sector
At today’s meeting on the construction and commissioning of the mining and processing complex in the Lyuban District, President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko outlined two principal ways to develop the country’s manufacturing sector
“A country lives and develops when new enterprises are created and old ones are modernised. This requires investment in production and the social sphere. We have a lot of schools and businesses where we only scratch the surface. There is an opportunity to go deeper,” the Head of State emphasised.
As an example, the President cited the production of cellulose: earlier, Belarus sold it as raw material, while the finished product — cardboard — was imported. Later it was decided to build a new cardboard production facility in Dobrush.
“In other words, we have delved deeper and received added value. Technologies have advanced and new ones have emerged today, so we need to develop and expand. The first way is to build on what we already have: people and schools. We know how to do it and don’t need to retrain anyone. The second way is to create new enterprises. However, this also involves creating enterprises in the relevant fields and industries where we have schools and people are trained,” Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasised.
The mining and processing complex in the Lyuban District is just one example of production development along the second path.
“The second way involves developing existing technologies and production enterprises, as well as encouraging the growth of new ones. Here they are: new enterprises. Fundamentally, this is the main thing,” the Belarusian leader stressed.
The Head of State also noted that the construction of this enterprise was delayed due to certain conditions, but one can also draw a conclusion from this.
“Now we realise that we have to make everything ourselves. We have to produce everything from our own materials. Then we will depend only on ourselves,” Aleksandr Lukashenko summed up.
