Lukashenko: oncology centre needs to be set up in Grodno Region

Until recently, Grodno remained the only regional centre in Belarus that did not have an oncology clinic. Meanwhile, a decision was made to build it, and a large construction site is now located near city hospital No. 3.

During his today’s meeting with the Chairman of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee, Vladimir Karanik, the President asked the Governor to report on the progress in constructing an oncology clinic in the city. The decision to build it was made two years ago, and Mr. Karanik has been occupying his post over the same time. Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that time had passed quickly, ‘though these are physically two years’. “Actually, it is already a five-year period regarding the tension that exists in the country,” he added.

Addressing the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, the President stressed the importance of the construction of this facility, “We need to build an oncology centre in the west for the Grodno Region. This is close to you. You are a surgeon, you have worked with cancer patients. How is the construction going there?”
