Lukashenko commented on US Congress report on coronavirus pandemic: we were right

Belarus made the right choice by not introducing lockdown during the COVID pandemic – as stated by President Aleksandr Lukashenko during his today’s conversation with POZHSNAB staff in Borisov

The Head of State commented on the recognition by the US Congress that the lockdowns were the wrong decision, and answered the question of whether he was pleased to be right. The Belarusian leader noted that it is good and pleasant for him when people feel good and satisfied. He recalled that Belarus was actually the only one that made the decision not to impose a lockdown and not to stop the economy. At the same time, the President's decision was initially supported by far from everyone inside the country.

Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed that millions of Dollars would have been needed if the country’s enterprises stopped working. In addition, time and foreign markets could have been lost.

“We stood our ground, and even Americans – who used to troll me all the time – have already recognised that. They repeated, after a while, all that I had said. That was a lesson. We must take care of our health while we are healthy, and the pandemic showed that. We turned out to be right, and I am glad in this regard," the Head of State commented.

Aleksandr Lukashenko once again stressed the importance of a healthy lifestyle, noting that people without chronic diseases tolerated the disease much more easily. “That's why I am all time inspiring you. Look, the Marathon of Unity is in full swing countrywide, so go outside, start walking, start jogging. It is necessary to take care of yourself so that not to later go to pharmacies,” he said.
