“Polotsk land is the cradle of statehood and the Orthodox faith of the Belarusian people. It was here that the Transfiguration Church was built nine centuries ago, its foundation stone was laid by St. Euphrosyne of Polotsk," the appeal reads. “The monastery has become a spiritual centre of attraction for pilgrims from all over the world. Its centuries-old history testifies to the power of faith in God and his help in good deeds for the sake of the Fatherland."

The Head of State noted that the modern generation of Belarusians, following the precepts of their ancestors to preserve and multiply the riches of their native land, carried out a serious restoration of the church using unique technologies and techniques that made it possible to restore the oldest elements of the building.

According to the President, the work of builders, scientists, restorers and all those who worked in this holy place deserves high praise. "A significant contribution is being made to our common cause — strengthening the historical memory of the Belarusian people – thanks to the implementation of such projects,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed. "I am confident that honouring Christian values will continue to help preserve cultural heritage and build a successful future for our descendants."
