Lukashenko on Our Children charity campaign: this tradition should be continued throughout Old New Year, and we must come to our elderly people

Our Children campaign has already become a good tradition that needs to be continued – as stated by the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, at a charity event as part of the Our Children campaign at the Palace of the Republic

In particular, the Head of State stressed, “Another tradition that originated in our sovereign and independent Belarus is Our Children campaign. Especially on New Year’s eve, during these festive holidays, all adults, entrepreneurs, business leaders, deputies, and civil servants visit children in orphanages, boarding schools, schools, and family-type homes, delighting them with New Year’s gifts. This has also become a good tradition, and I think that this tradition cannot be ruined. It must be continued throughout the Old New Year, but we must visit our elderly people, who are lonely today.”

The President added that among them there are those forgotten by their children, though these children are not poor, “These are old people. We won’t be young forever. We will all become old... Therefore, elderly people should not be forgotten. I would like this charity campaign – when we go with gifts to children – to continue on the New Year, so that we come to our elderly people and give them presents, congratulating them on the New Year and Christmas. So, the tradition of Our Children campaign has already existed for many years and has taken root in the minds of our people.”
