Lukashenko off to Tajikistan on official visit

The President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, has left for the Republic of Tajikistan on an official visit. The plane of the Head of State took off from Minsk National Airport, BelTA reports.

In Dushanbe, Aleksandr Lukashenko will hold today talks with the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, in narrow and expanded formats – also involving delegation members.

“The parties will discuss the expansion of co-operation, primarily in the trade-economic sphere, as well as the implementation of current and promising projects. Following the talks, a package of international documents is expected to be signed,” the press service of the Belarusian leader reported.

On the second day of the visit, October 12th, Aleksandr Lukashenko will also hold a number of meetings in the capital of Tajikistan.

Simultaneously with the official visit of the President, a Tajik-Belarusian business forum will be held in Dushanbe, an exposition of Belarusian manufacturers – Made in Belarus – will be organised.

“The most important and priority is the economic component of the visit. Therefore, we have long planned this visit and holding the Made in Belarus exhibition as part of the visit and the business forum,” Belarusian Ambassador to Tajikistan Viktor Denisenko told reporters.

A large delegation of Belarusian business circles had already arrived in Dushanbe, representing the interests of more than 70 companies and enterprises. The parties agreed to sign more than 60 documents, including commercial contracts worth over $46m.
