Lukashenko: not people should apply to authorities, but authorities should run towards population
Where the mechanisms of interaction between the authorities and the population fail, the topic of citizens’ appeals arises – as was accentuated by the President of Belarus during the nationwide conference dedicated to Actualisation of Methods and Forms of Work with the Population at the Local Level
“It’s time to understand that it is not the people who should go to power, but the government should run to the people. This is how the social role of society is changing: people are turning from petitioners into our partners,” noted Aleksandr Lukashenko.
According to him, the country has good examples of co-operation between public organisations and the state in support of citizens who need special protection. We have many such organisations and the government pays for it. The Belarusian leader stated that he refers to the state social order, “We are ready to support those who prove their civic position by deeds, helping those in need, and not pushing Belarusians against their foreheads, bringing confusion into our calm and measured life. In a word, there will always be work for all those who are not indifferent and who really wants to be useful to people.”
