Lukashenko: not a single issue in the world was resolved without Soviet Union, and this bipolarity balanced the planet

During an open lesson, President Aleksandr Lukashenko asked schoolchildren what they know about the Soviet era

“Why am I asking?” the President explained. “Because during the years of Perestroika and the collapse of the Soviet Union, tubs of dirt have been poured on this period. Everything was despised: the Great Victory, great achievements in culture and arts, breakthroughs in science and technology. The result is obvious: the Soviet Union was collapsed, the memory of it is discredited. Meanwhile, this was a country that your grandfathers and great-grandfathers built, which was respected in the world, which was considered and whose achievements – such as the first flight into space, the creation of the first nuclear reactor, the first computer and many others – amazed the whole world. We were leaders in this regard. Not a single issue in the world was resolved without the Soviet Union. It was impossible to imagine that a war could start somewhere without the approval or tacit consent of the Soviet country. The Americans were afraid even to think that Soviet troops could get involved in it on the opposite side. This bipolarity balanced the planet.”

The Belarusian Head of State focused on the fact that it was during the Soviet era that we returned our territories. Today we returned to our calendar an important date in our history: September 17th, 1939.

“The day of the reunification of the Belarusian people after decades of Polish occupation is now our National Unity Day, which we will be soon celebrating, because we remember everything,” Aleksandr Lukashenko summed up.
