Aleksandr Lukashenko already met with Mohamed Ali Alabbar in June 2021 and, following the results of that meeting, an investment agreement was signed between the Minsk City Executive Committee and the Emirati company to implement a large-scale smart city project in Minsk: Northern Waterfront. It is designed until 2040 and involves an investment of $4.5bn. The smart city will be located within the boundaries of the Minsk ring road – Pobediteley Avenue – Orlovskaya Street – Tsnyanskoye water reservoir. As part of the complex, residential buildings with all the necessary engineering and transport infrastructure, social and public facilities with a total area of more than 6m square metres will be built.

“I am glad to meet you once again. You have long been a friend of Belarus, and you come here often. We appreciate such a scheme and the system of your work, and we are always ready to welcome you in Belarus – moreover, you always come with specific proposals. Of course, we will devote most of our time today to our main project – Northern Waterfront, which you plan to build. This is a large-scale project, and I think there have been so far no other project in Belarus as big as this one,” Aleksandr Lukashenko addressed the guest.
