Lukashenko named main condition for ending war in Ukraine, and the West knows it
The war in Ukraine can be ended right now, but there is the main condition – as noted by the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, in an interview with France-Presse, BelTA reports
"It all depends on Ukraine. The peculiarity of the moment is that this war can be ended on more acceptable terms for Ukraine. But no one will let Ukraine end the war," the President believes.
According to the Head of State, Ukraine should primarily start negotiations – ‘and agree that they will never threaten Russia and will not have weapons on its territory that will threaten the Russian territory’. “This is the key. Meanwhile, denazification and so on is a philosophy. Russia’s security is the main point. The Russian authorities, having this power and wealth of Russia, will never give up on this," Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed.
"Give guarantees, help Kiev. Kiev will give these guarantees if you, NATO and the US, agree that there will never be a threat to the Russian territory from the territory of Ukraine. Russia will then give guarantees of security to Ukraine," the Belarusian leader is convinced.
"Which Ukraine [are you talking of]? There will also be Kherson, Donetsk, Lugansk," the French journalist asked, and the President of Belarus commented.
“Listen, this is out of the question. It was possible to talk about this in February-March. You see, Russian people – whom Ukrainians have treated with contempt – live there. Why [were they doing so]? I am not punishing Poles now for the policy that Poland is pursuing towards us. I always say: we have ethnic Poles, but these are ‘my’ Poles – and they have all the rights, just like Belarusians. We love, respect and value them. And they behave decently in the main. Why then was the Russian language banned, why was it necessary to pursue the policy conducted by Poroshenko and Zelenskyy inside Ukraine? They have been pushing Ukraine towards war all the time from the inside through this," Aleksandr Lukashenko stated.
