In particular, the President of Belarus held talks with the leadership of the Shandong Lisente Agricultural Technology headed by its chairman Wang Shoubo.
The Shandong Lisente Agricultural Technology is a high-tech enterprise specialising in the design, construction and full maintenance of modern greenhouses. The company has built more than 180 vegetable warehouses and contemporary seedling production plants in 30 provinces and cities in China, with over 80 greenhouse facilities in 40 countries and regions (Europe, America, Africa, Oceania, Central Asia, and the Middle East). The enterprise strives to actively participate in the global process of agricultural modernisation, adhering to the concept of the Belt and Road Initiative.
Opening the meeting, the Belarusian leaders sincerely called it very pleasant.
“Not only because I have some connection to soil, but also because, having studied your capabilities, you are very interesting to us. In spite of the fact that our agriculture [in Belarus] is highly developed and we supply many food products to China,” Aleksandr Lukashenko noted.
The Shandong Lisente Agricultural Technology already has experience in co-operating with Belarus. Specifically, in the summer of 2024, the company and Svetlogorsk Pulp and Cardboard Mill OJSC signed a contract for constructing a 4th generation greenhouse for growing tomatoes with a total area of 6 hectares. Aleksandr Lukashenko highly appreciated the active co-operation of Shandong Liseteng Agrotechnology with Belarusian regions, as well as the state-of-the-art technologies that the company offers in design, construction and operation of greenhouse facilities.
“Therefore, we are waiting for you in Belarus. We have plenty of land and soil suitable for greenhouses. If you use artificial irrigation and plant feeding, we know a bit about that — Belarus has the people who are suited for working at such facilities,” the President of Belarus stated.
On a separate note, Aleksandr Lukashenko touched upon Belarus’ competitive advantages in this area: affordable natural gas, surplus electricity, and plans to build a second nuclear power plant. The country also produces the necessary fertilisers and employs competent specialists.
“Therefore, you can seriously expand in Belarus, in our market. Importantly, we sell a lot of similar products in Russia today, and Russia’s market is massive. Europe is in great need of these products. Therefore, if we expand quickly, we can produce any vegetables and sell them in unlimited markets,” the Belarusian leader emphasised.
Aleksandr Lukashenko also sees prospects for exporting grown products, including to China, “"I know that you are now partially ready to invest in the construction of greenhouse plants. But I am sure that in just a year you will want to build your own Chinese facilities with 100 percent capital to operate in those markets. In short, you can count on the support of our government in Belarus for the production of vegetables in greenhouses. You can produce for China. You can take as much as you produce to China.”
Wang Shoubo expressed his gratitude to Aleksandr Lukashenko for the meeting and expressed his confidence that the project to build greenhouse facilities would be implemented quickly, “This is not only commercial co-operation, but also a strategic partnership between China and Belarus.”
The next meeting the President of Belarus held was with the leadership of the Shandong Hualiang Greenhouse Engineering (a part of the Shandong Hualiang Group) headed by Chen Hongliang.
The Shandong Hualiang Group is one the largest enterprises of contemporary automated greenhouse construction in China, which carries out projects across China and abroad. The group of companies also provides scientific, technical, industrial and intellectual developments. It holds 66 national patents, including three patents for inventions.
In the context of mutually beneficial co-operation, Belarus considers the construction of greenhouse facilities for growing flowers: roses, orchids, chrysanthemums and others in the Vitebsk Region.
During his conversation with Chen Hongliang, Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasised that Belarus is very interested in this area, “You will probably be the richest and most welcome guests in Belarus — I mean, we import flowers from all over the world, even from Ecuador. Therefore, Mr Chen, our doors are open to you. The Belarusian market is not explored. So are the Russian and European markets. There is practically no competition. If you start selling your beautiful flowers, including orchids, in the near future, we will be very grateful to you.”
The Belarusian leaders assured that Belarus will provide the fullest possible assistance, “We’ll support! You will be able to establish production using the technologies you deem necessary.”
Chen Hongliang expressed his gratitude to Aleksandr Lukashenko for the opportunity to meet and spoke about the agreement with the Vitebsk Region and the relevant developed plans, “We have great technologies to carry out our joint project. We will put into joint efforts to develop it. We have many varieties of different flowers, therefore, we would like to co-operate with you in selling these flowers.”
“You should bring them to Belarus — and not only to Belarus. We will sell from Belarus to Russia as well,” Aleksandr Lukashenko noted.
A joint venture is expected to be established in the Vitebsk Region to build 4th and 5th generation greenhouse facilities with a total area of at least 10 hectares for growing flowers (roses, chrysanthemums, orchids and others).
