All the issues of the conversation – which lasted about one hour and twenty minutes – concerned the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. The sides discussed Belarus' position and involvement in this conflict.

A significant part of the conversation was devoted to discussing the future of Europe and Belarus’ place in this world order; the sides also talked about the Belarus-Russia relations.

Another topic concerned weapons, including nuclear weapons and their possible deployment in Belarus. In response to this question, the President of Belarus responded it was ‘fake’ news, noting that ‘if the people of Belarus are not being strangled, then conventional weapons are out of the question – not to mention nuclear weapons’.

In the context of their discussion of the issue of peace negotiations, Aleksandr Lukashenko shared his position: ‘at any time, in any place – in Belarus’.

During the conversation, the President of France emphasised his respect for the people of Belarus.

The heads of state agreed on contacts in the near future.
