Lukashenko laid a wreath at Victory Monument in Minsk

The President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, has taken part in the Victory Day celebrations on May 9th – as is traditional, BelTA reports

Aleksandr Lukashenko has laid a wreath at the Victory Monument in Minsk. The Head of State was accompanied by his three sons.

Wreaths and flowers were also laid at the monument by heads of state administration bodies, the National Assembly, the judiciary, law enforcement agencies, public associations, the diplomatic corps, veterans and clergy.

Aleksandr Lukashenko and all those present at Victory Square honoured the memory of the fallen heroes with a minute of silence.

During the ceremony, Defence Minister Viktor Khrenin, on behalf of the President, voiced the military’s view on the significance of the Great Victory, also describing the military-political situation around Belarus.

The ceremony ended with the performance of the National Anthem of Belarus and a solemn march of the composite company and the honour guard orchestra of the Minsk Military Commandant's Office.
