Lukashenko: it’s necessary to consider measures to reduce timber cost for building houses in rural areas
While speaking to the leadership of the Grodno Region during his visit to the production co-operative named after V.I. Kremko, the Head of State asked how the housing issue is being solved on the territory of the farm, paying special attention to the construction of rental housing. Recently, there has been an increase in prices for sawn timber while Belarus has enough of this resource.

In this regard, Aleksandr Lukashenko instructed to consider measures to reduce the cost of this raw material, in particular for the construction of housing in rural areas, “I fly over the country and see that there’re a lot of forests. Sometimes we do not have time to process timber and export it abroad while our people have to pay big money for it. We have timber. Why can’t we sell it cheaply to rural workers? Then people will work, as will managers [of enterprises].”
The President noted that citizens working in the countryside should have good living conditions, “They should live in normal housing.”
The Head of State noted that these houses should be rented, but with the possibility of redemption.
“We need to think over this issue during winter,” the President instructed.
