Lukashenko interviewed by Natsionalnaya Oborona magazine

The President of Belarus has been interviewed by Russia’s Natsionalnaya Oborona magazine

The talk was led by the magazine’s Editor-in-Chief, an authoritative military expert – Igor Korotchenko – who had previously participated in the 2021 Big Conversation with the President. It was then when he asked the Head of State for a personal meeting.

The President stayed true to his word. In recent times, Igor Korotchenko has been actively commenting – as an expert – on the situation in our country.

The interview lasted for almost two and a half hours and focused on a wide range of issues. Aleksandr Lukashenko’s answers to all questions were open and sincere – as always.

In particular, the Head of State dwelt in detail on the origins and causes of the current migration crisis, the results of the recent meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State, prospects for integration with Russia and relations with Vladimir Putin, and issues of the constitutional reform in Belarus. Mr. Korotchenko was interested in the President’s view on last year's attempted coup in Belarus. The sides also talked about the collective West policy, Donbass conflict settlement, attitude to the Soviet past, development of the Armed Forces of Belarus and ensuring security, including in alliance with Russia. Naturally, there were some personal questions.

The Natsionalnaya Oborona [National Defence] magazine has been available since 2006 – online and in print, and its monthly circulation is 22,500 copies. The publication covers a wide range of issues concerning Russia's national security, and its target audience includes the military and political leaders of Russia, employees of law enforcement ministries and departments, special services, the military-diplomatic corps, as well as heads of enterprises and organisations of the military-industrial complex, banking, financial and insurance agencies working with military organisations.
