Lukashenko set task to finish winter sowing this week

When considering personnel issues today, President Aleksandr Lukashenko instructed to finish winter sowing this week

The Head of State, in particular, noted that he was somewhat wary of harvesting corn, “It’s still being harvested for silage. It has become dry, yet it hasn’t completely dried out. Therefore, decide on the spot: if you can make silage from this corn, then go ahead. Do everything carefully to prevent acidity and avoid spoilage in pits, otherwise the cattle will suffer.”

Aleksandr Lukashenko stated that there is no reason to expect the corn to dry out and be harvested as grain, “Remember that corn is susceptible to several fungal infections, which can cause the ears to rot completely. To prevent this, harvest the corn whenever needed. If the moisture level is high, press it down. Drying the corn kernels is not required.”

The President also emphasised the importance of continuing the sugar beet harvest without delay, as the weather remains unpredictable.

Additionally, there was a separate task regarding sowing of winter crops.

“Winter sowing must be completed this week,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed. “We’ll compensate for it with spring crops later on. We also need to carry out extensive autumn ploughing. Yes, this year is unusual; everything has shifted and changed. But who should we blame? On one hand, it’s unusual, but on the other, it’s high-yield. Therefore, we must put in the effort. We need to harvest corn and sugar beet, and also plough the soil.”
