Lukashenko: if US acknowledges our role in resolving Ukraine conflict, Belarus ready to participate in the process
During today’s meeting discussing the global international situation and the development of Belarusian-US relations, President Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasised that Belarus advocates for an immediate end to the war in Ukraine; otherwise, the country will disappear
The Head of State pointed out that Washington’s actions are taking place both in the framework of addressing the regional crisis surrounding Ukraine and to advance its interests in Eastern Europe and globally.
“But that’s alright. If the Americans want to resolve the conflict in Ukraine and envision a small role for us in that process, we are willing to take part. We have stated our position clearly: peace, peace, and only peace! Ukraine should exist as a sovereign and independent state. We want the war to end immediately. Otherwise, this independent sovereign state will cease to exist. Furthermore, some parties are already eyeing the western regions of Ukraine, and even some areas of Belarus, guided by a kind of ‘holy spirit of Pilsudski’. These are their concerns and the type of people involved. Therefore, a sovereign and independent Ukraine is a critical issue for us. It should be peaceful, not pose any problems or threats to anyone, and develop as an independent country. We support this, we support peace, and we are ready to work towards it,” the Belarusian leader pointed out.
