Lukashenko: I will do everything so that our Belarus lives in peace and harmony
Speaking at the Christmas service at the church named after St. John the Miracle Worker of Shanghai and San Francisco in Minsk, the President drew attention to some forecasts that 2023 should be better than the year of 2022
“Honestly, I think it would be good if it is at least such as it was in 2022. We lived it in peace, harmony, and warmth. This is very important now. In this regard, this year should be no worse,” the Head of State noted.
Meanwhile, there are grounds to reckon on a more significant result as well, Aleksandr Lukashenko believes. “We will have conditions to live normally, to work normally – who wants to, and to live in warmth and peace. We will have everything for these. I do not want to specify anything here, but everything has been done to make it better. But if it [the year of 2023] will be the same as last year, then this will be fine. We will agree with that. However, I am convinced it will be better – a little bit better,” he said.
The President stressed that the future will be better if we ourselves do not create tension in our society. “God forbid this will happen as in our fraternal Ukraine and other states. At first, tension was created (by the Maidan and so on), then a civil war began – which was later followed by a real bloody massacre. Who would have thought that we, Slavs, would one day fight against each other. This is terrible, and it all starts with minor things. Therefore, it is necessary to take steps to destroy the points of confrontation in our society,” he said.
The Head of State urged all those present and all countrymen, “I would like to emphasise once again – so that you understand: both the authorities, we are ready for that, and our clergy, and all of you should on this bright day and other days (Easter is still ahead of us, which is the brightest and most joyful holiday) just calmly think over and come to the right decision with regard to the issues that need solution – as I often say, not leaving these issues for our children. Our generation should solve the issues that we must settle. Therefore, we will take appropriate steps in the direction – so that Belarus be peaceful and calm, so that we do not look askance at each other. Meanwhile, those who violate the law should bear responsibility according to the law. Alas, such is life.”
The President once again congratulated the parishioners on Christmas and stated, “Personally, as Commander-in-Chief, as Head of State, I will do everything to ensure that our Belarus lives in peace and harmony. I will do everything so that you could spend your days with your families in warmth and tranquillity, and would remember about a great and essential thing that is called peace.”
