Lukashenko held working meeting with Algerian PM Sifi Ghrieb
President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko has held a working meeting with Prime Minister of the Algerian People's Democratic Republic Sifi Ghrieb today
The Prime Minister of Algeria heartily welcomed Aleksandr Lukashenko and drew attention to the dynamics of bilateral relations in 2025. He also spoke about the need to prepare a roadmap for bilateral co-operation.
The President of Belarus noted, “I understand well what Algeria is. We co-operate with many countries of the African continent, since the future lies in Africa.”
Addressing Sifi Ghrieb, the Head of State noted that the Prime Minister is responsible for economic development and trade co-operation, “You care about how the projects that you and I will define in the roadmap you have just mentioned will be implemented. We should definitely elaborate an absolutely workable plan for our relations and our actions.”
Aleksandr Lukashenko believes that, after identifying the main directions for the development of bilateral relations, the established intergovernmental commission could meet in Minsk after a short time and analyse in detail the progress being made in line with this roadmap.
“Everything that we produce in Belarus is necessary for you. All African states are very well focused on the acquisition of technology, first of all. We are ready to share our technologies with you in mechanical engineering, petrochemistry, agriculture, and IT. We are ready to co-operate with you in the field of the military-industrial complex. In short, Mr. Prime Minister, there are no closed topics in our relations," the Belarusian leader emphasised.
The Head of State also invited Algerian experts to visit Belarus, explore its opportunities and technologies, and make appropriate decisions ‘within the framework of what you will need to take from Belarus’, “We will work in this direction. We will be happy if there is anything we can do for you.”
Aleksandr Lukashenko added that Belarusian specialists will help establish technological co-operation in Algeria, so that local citizens can work further, “We need to train your people how to use these technologies and thereby increase our trade turnover.”
The Head of State emphasised that, in the current conditions, it is necessary to invest in specific projects, “Money means nothing today, and even more so tomorrow. You see how the situation is developing. World's major reserve currencies face terrible inflation. Therefore, the life pushes us to invest money in specific projects.”
The President reminded that Belarus has extensive experience of co-operation primarily as part of the Soviet Union, “We have this experience, and we need to use it and move along this path, solving urgent problems that our people are concerned about. It is necessary to hurry, and we should in no case be slow. The time dictates this.”
Sifi Ghrieb, in turn, stated, “We have already determined the areas where our co-operation can develop: these are industry, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and startups.”
The Prime Minister noted that the business forum held in Algeria the day before and the agreements reached there would give a new impetus to bilateral relations, “Algeria is a door to Africa, and it provides an opportunity for trade with African states. It is possible to lay the foundation for bilateral relations and draw up a roadmap.”
