Lukashenko extended Independence Day greetings to the President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka

The President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, has congratulated President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickremesinghe on the national holiday – Independence Day – as reported in the Belarusian leader’s press service

“I am convinced that thanks to your rich experience in responsible government positions, the country will successfully overcome all the difficulties of the economic crisis caused by the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic and continue sustainable development,” the congratulatory message says.

Despite the geographical remoteness, liaisons between Minsk and Colombo are gradually improving, primarily in the political and educational spheres, the Belarusian leader stressed. At the same time, he drew attention that a significant unrealised potential remains in such sectors as industry, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, science and technology.

“I hope that with your support, the Belarus-Sri Lanka interaction will acquire a comprehensive, systemic, and multifaceted character,” the President noted.

Aleksandr Lukashenko wished Ranil Wickremesinghe strong health and success in his work, and peace and prosperity to the people of Sri Lanka.
