Lukashenko: everyone should enjoy Union State advantages in practice, without restrictions
A special topic in the Union State is ensuring equal rights for citizens of Belarus and Russia – as noted by President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko during today’s meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State in Minsk
“Whatever goals we pursue in building the Union State, its main goal and target audience are our citizens: those who believe in us, trust us and count on an attentive response to their needs and requirements. Therefore, a special topic is to ensure equal rights for the citizens of Belarus and Russia,” the Head of State emphasised.
The Belarusian leader noted that over the past quarter of a century much has been resolved in the issues of migration, social and labour relations, and healthcare. Thus, there are no restrictions on movement across the territory of both states. There are equal rights in the sphere of labour activity, recognition of work experience and labour protection. The issues of pensions and social insurance have been settled.
All citizens are provided with emergency and urgent medical assistance. In 2023 alone, some 60,000 Russian citizens received medical assistance in Belarus. Support is provided for families with children and certain categories of the population.
“But there is still a lot to be done. Everyone should enjoy all the advantages of the Union State,” Aleksandr Lukashenko underlined.
He also drew attention to the importance of planning and redistribution of labour resources, “It is no secret that every year the Russian labour market attracts a significant number of Belarusians, which means that we have a shortage of labour hands. It is the same problem as in Russia. We need a co-ordinated policy in this area and efficient legal mechanisms that take into account the interests of both sides.”
