Lukashenko encouraged Belarusian cosmonaut candidates

The President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, met with six Belarusian candidates for a space flight in the Star City, BelTA reports

Greeting the ladies, Aleksandr Lukashenko repeated what he had told one of them after a centrifuge simulator training, “I have already said that I have arranged a busy life for you, and you will have something to remember."

The Head of State was informed that more than three thousand persons had been interviewed, and six of them had been chosen: these are the worthiest candidates. They are currently undergoing full-time medical examination at the Cosmonaut Training Centre, and more than half of the planned examinations have been conducted by now. The ladies enjoy high morale and good physical condition.

Aleksandr Lukashenko revealed what he had agreed upon with Roscosmos CEO Yuri Borisov, “He says the following: if they pass for health reasons, then they will not be lost, since we will involve them into a Russian-Belarusian segment of space flights. So you do not need to worry: those who will not fly into space this time will do it next time. There will be enough work for everyone.”

"Thank you very much. I think we will meet more than once in the future. I want you to be a success. You will not regret that you have joined this team," the President added.

Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that he had asked cosmonaut Oleg Novitsky, a native of Belarus, for assistance in the training, “I told him: Oleg, watch the ladies, help them get ready, and so on. He says he is watching."

The ladies thanked for the support provided and the opportunity to be among the candidates for a space flight, confirming their readiness to represent Belarus with honour and dignity on the International Space Station.
