In particular, addressing, the new Deputy Prime Minister Leonid Zayats, who will be supervising the agro-industrial complex, Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed, “You have one major goal: to facilitate exports. You know it well. Great opportunities are opening up in our main markets: both in Russia and in China, and in other countries as well. I think you can handle this.”

Moreover, the President instructed Leonid Zayats to prepare a reliable replacement for himself, “Together with the Head of the Administration, suggest a candidate who will replace you in your post. I would like you to work in the position of deputy prime minister for the time that you consider it necessary. This is for you to decide. I don’t mind if you work for a very long time. However, you understand that we are not eternal, and our forces are not endless, so we must have a replacement. If the people elect the president, then the president appoints the deputy prime minister. I would like you to train such a person to replace you in future.”

The Head of State thanked Leonid Zayats for agreeing to take up a new position, “You might have already thought that you can work calmly somehow in life. However, we may only dream of some rest. Therefore, I have adopted such a non-standard decision. Thank you again for agreeing to help during this difficult time, which is also a time of great opportunities, primarily, in the sector that you will be in charge of.”
