Lukashenko demands that farmers complete autumn field works on time

During today’s meeting reviewing the draft forecast documents for 2026, President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko demanded that farmers complete autumn field works on time, BelTA reports

The Head of State focused the attention of the meeting participants on topical issues in agriculture — one of the key sectors of the economy.

Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasised the significance of promptly completing essential autumn field works, such as harvesting, autumn ploughing, fertilising, and preparing soil for the upcoming season.

“The frosts are about to start. If we don’t do autumn ploughing and turn over the soil, by spring we’ll be in such a difficult situation that discussing the harvest won’t be even possible... That’s why we must work around the clock today,” the Head of State stressed.

During the meeting, the President inquired in detail about the progress of the harvesting campaign across various regions. He highlighted the situation in the Grodno Region, which traditionally performs well in many agro-industrial indicators. However, this year, harvesting for certain crops has not yet been completed, which is unusual for this area. Yuri Karayev, the Chairman of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee, had to respond to several critical questions and remarks from the Head of State, including concerns about the unfinished harvesting of beets and corn. The corn, in particular, remains in the fields in some areas, leading to a gradual decline in grain quality. It needs to be harvested as soon as possible, preferably in a flattened form, to ensure good storage and suitability for livestock feed. Additionally, the country boasts sufficient equipment and machinery for flattening grain and harvesting such feed.

The President highlighted the positive results in the Minsk Region, stating, “The Minsk Region is performing well this year, despite being a challenging area.” Meanwhile, Aleksandr Lukashenko also cautioned the leadership of the Gomel and Vitebsk regions that the overall situation in agriculture will be thoroughly examined, particularly focusing on the measures taken to address the issue of livestock mortality.
