Lukashenko: cryptocurrency is one the ways to avoid Dollar dependence
Cryptocurrencies are one of the options for avoiding Dollar dependence in the world – as stated by President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko during today’s meeting focusing on the results of the work of the Belarusian NPP, the increase in energy consumption in the republic and proposals for the construction of a second nuclear power plant (third power unit)
Aleksandr Lukashenko asked the meeting participants to report on what measures have been taken to increase electricity consumption, their results and proposals for the further development of the electric power industry and related branches: i.e. mining cryptocurrencies, electric transport and housing construction with electric heating.
"The focus is on the prospects of loading the existing and new capacities,” the Head of State said. “I have studied some notes and opinions, and one the notes reads that mining cryptocurrencies can fluctuate and be unstable. The whole world is now concerned with a global problem — to get away from dependence on one currency: the Dollar. This process will accelerate, and cryptocurrency is probably one of the ways to ensure this withdrawal. So why are we already so worried? There's some kind of volatility... Well, it probably will, but nothing venture, nothing gain.”
