The Head of State noted that the North‑Western Operational Command is a legal successor of the legendary 65th Combined Arms Army. “Having gone through baptism of fire during one of the decisive fights of WWII – the Battle of Stalingrad, the army soldiers were all time in the vanguard of the front troops’ offensive. They liberated Belarus and completed their combat path in the Baltic. Tens of thousands of soldiers and officers were bestowed upon orders and medals, and more than 300 were awarded the title of Soviet Union Hero,” the Belarusian leader noted.

The President added that the North‑Western Operational Command’s military have approached the landmark date being dedicated to their heroic past. “The command’s military units take part in all key events of operational and combat training of the Armed Forces and are always ready to give a worthy response to any challenges and threats that the country may face,” he said.

Aleksandr Lukashenko expressed his conviction that the troops of the North‑Western Operational Command will continue to ensure the state’s military security at a high professional level.

“I wish the military servicemen, civilian personnel and veterans good health and new achievements for the glory of the Motherland — our beloved Belarus," the Head of State added.
