Lukashenko congratulates Belarusians on Day of State Emblem and State Flag

As the President’s congratulatory message reads, the State Emblem and the State Flag of the Republic of Belarus are symbols of the country’s historical memory, linking together its heroic past, modern life and future

“Belarusians were moving towards independence through the storms of the revolution, WWI and the Civil War. In a dramatic but fateful period, the Constitution of 1919 fixed a life-affirming prototype of Belarus’ modern emblem: the rising sun surrounded by a crown of ears,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said in his message. “The people defended the value of peace and the opportunity to live and work freely on their native land during the Great Patriotic War under the Banner of Victory, and the State Flag of the Republic of Belarus keeps a part of it.”

The Head of State noted that – by uniting under these symbols, preserving the country’s heroic history and honouring ancestors – Belarusians are now jointly defending the sovereign right to develop in line with their long-standing traditions and national interests.

“I congratulate you on Day of the State Emblem and the State Flag of the Republic of Belarus. I wish you peace, prosperity and new creative achievements for the benefit of the Motherland,” President Aleksandr Lukashenko addressed the nation.
