“The main ideas of this holiday were reconciliation and unity of society around the fundamental values on which the Romanian state relies: independence and sovereignty, spiritual heritage and cultural traditions,” the congratulatory message reads.

The historical destinies have made Belarusians and Romanians very similar: they firmly adhere to the principles of solidarity and mutual assistance, while carefully preserving the memory of their ancestors, identity and customs, thanks to which they are distinctive European nations,” the Belarusian leader noted.

“Today Belarus remains true to its convictions and is ready for peaceful constructive dialogue – based on respect and equality. I’m confident that our countries have great potential for co-operation and will be able to find ways to resume fully-fledged relations,” the President stressed.

Aleksandr Lukashenko wished the citizens of Romania new achievements, prosperity and progress.
