“Over a historically short period, we have strengthened and brought to a qualitatively new level the good ties that arose between our peoples after the Cuban Revolution in 1959. After gaining independence, the Republic of Belarus continued constructive and mutually beneficial co-operation with your state both on the bilateral basis and within the framework of international organisations,” reads the congratulatory message.

Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed that the Cuban people, who have been under enormous sanctions for more than six decades, are an example for everyone who wants to build their own socially fair country – independent of any centres of power.

“The leadership of Belarus has the same goal, which is categorically disliked by the leading states of the West, which subjected our country to unprecedented restrictive measures. That is why it is especially important for us to maintain and strengthen contacts with real friends and like-minded people, including Cuba and the Cuban people, in order to jointly confront global challenges and threats, making the lives of our citizens calm and safe,” noted the Belarusian leader.

The Belarusian Head of State wished the President of Cuba and the entire Cuban nation strong health, happiness and prosperity.
