Lukashenko congratulated pilot-cosmonaut Piotr Klimuk, twice Hero of the Soviet Union, on his 80th birthday

On July 10th, the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, has sent greetings to pilot-cosmonaut, twice Hero of the Soviet Union Piotr Klimuk, on his 80th birthday – as reported in the Belarusian leader’s press service

“Your cherished childhood dream of the sky and enormous work have brought you to the circle of legendary personalities who paved the way for mankind to the stars. Your name as the first Belarusian cosmonaut is written in golden letters in the history of our country,” reads the congratulatory message.

The Belarusian Head of State underlined that Piotr Klimuk showed his contemporaries a bright example of selfless service to the Fatherland and his lifework. “The courage and heroism shown by you in conquering the infinite Universe during three space flights arouse sincere admiration of several generations,” noted the Belarusian leader.

Aleksandr Lukashenko wished Piotr Klimuk strong health, inexhaustible energy, happiness and well-being.
