Lukashenko comments on Belarus’ agricultural strategy

On meeting today the Deputy Prime Minister, Aleksandr Subbotin, and the Agriculture and Food Minister, Ivan Krupko, the President commented on the situation in the agro-industrial complex

“We will talk a lot more about the results of the agro-industrial complex work this year. Therefore, just a few words, Ivan Ivanovich [Krupko]. It's too early to talk about heroism. Although I have just received your presentation, I’m nevertheless aware of the results. We have repeatedly discussed this with you. What is the situation now, after the harvest campaign ended? When speaking of this, I’m most concerned about the future, strategy. The present situation is already clear. We see all faults and all achievements. It’s time to talk about the future. We have discussed tactical and strategic issues more than once. There is only one strategy: we need to ramp up our agricultural exports to $7bn as soon as possible,” the Head of State said.

The President stressed that there is a food crisis in the world, and it is only getting worse. Accordingly, the demand for food and its prices will grow.

“Therefore, our strategy is to continue to work hard,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed.
