“We are very lucky that, in its recent history, the Belarusian land has not experienced disagreements, persecution on religious, national or racial grounds. All faiths enjoy an atmosphere of mutual respect, peace and harmony in the country. This is surprising for many in our modern days, including for the so-called civilised countries. The coexistence of Christianity, Islam, Judaism and other religions, the foundations of which do not contradict the deep values of the Belarusian society, has united and tempered the Belarusian nation,” Aleksandr Lukashenko addressed those present at the meeting.

The President noted that Belarus is always open to everyone who comes with peace, “We never create obstacles to foreign pilgrims who come to worship at our shrines. We help people in need, especially refugees. At the same time, we are selflessly ready to offer rebuff to the enemy. This has happened more than once in our thousand-year history.”

The Head of State recalled that 2025 is the year of the Great Victory, “We know very well that, during the Great Patriotic War, our land was defended by representatives of various faiths. Together we defeated fascism and established peace, and the latter is sealed with the blood of many peoples. We value this peace very much. There is a reason why Belarus has a tradition of joint interreligious prayer for peace. I always say that peace is a super-value for all nations, and it is important for us to preserve it.”
