Lukashenko bestowed 2022 Belarusian Sports Olympus special award
On December 30th, 2022, Head of State Aleksandr Lukashenko signed Decree No. 454 on awarding the President’s special prize: Belarusian Sports Olympus, the Belarusian leader’s press service reports
A special prize went to Anton Smolski, Anastasiya Prokopenko and Viktor Baikov for their active promotion of physical culture and sports, as well as development of sports traditions that contribute to the formation of a harmonious personality.
The captain of the national biathlon team, the master of sports of international class, Anton Smolski, is a silver medallist of the 2022 Winter Olympics, a prize holder of the World Cup stages, a winner and medallist of the Commonwealth Cup stages of the 2021/2022 season, a European champion in summer biathlon.
An Honoured Master of Sports of Belarus, Anastasiya Prokopenko, is a multiple world and European champion in modern pentathlon. She took part in four Olympics, and is a bronze medallist of the 2008 Games.
An Honoured Coach of Belarus, Viktor Baikov, has been working at Gomel’s State School of the Olympic Reserve since 1982. He trained an Honoured Master of Sports of Belarus, Maryna Litvinchuk – a three-time Olympic medallist (2012, 2016 and 2021). He brought up a whole galaxy of high-class athletes who later became winners and prize holders of the world and European championships, including eleven masters of sports of Belarus of international class, and 52 masters of sports of Belarus.
