On October 31st, the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, was reported on the completion of the construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant (BelNPP) and increasing the availability of electricity for heating residential buildings, with Deputy Prime Minister Piotr Parkhomchik, Deputy Head of the Belarus President Administration Maksim Yermolovich and Energy Minister Viktor Karankevich invited to the Palace of Independence

At the beginning of the meeting, the Head of State noted that, in principle, the construction and commissioning works at the station had been completed, “The station is operating at full capacity. Planned preventative and other measures are carried out – in line with regulations. The safety of our station is the number one issue. There is nothing to repeat or say here. I’m aware that the Emergencies Ministry raises some questions before the Russians. So, everything must be perfectly fine-tuned, even the subtle nuances.”

“Rosatom should understand this very well. We are a Chernobyl-affected country; even the slightest indulgence during the construction of a nuclear power plant is not permissible. People will never forgive us for this. That’s why we have such strict requirements on various nuances,” added the Belarusian leader.

The President underlined that, based on the information he receives, the main components of the station are in order.

“Well, the details need to be polished and brought into compliance,” summed up Aleksandr Lukashenko.
