Lukashenko: Belarusians always built their politics and lifestyle independently, and will continue this path
No matter what information agenda is imposed on Belarusians, they have always built and will continue building their politics and lifestyle independently – as noted by the Head of State, Aleksandr Lukashenko, at a reception on behalf of the President to mark the Old New Year
The President reminded that Belarusians had celebrated the winter holidays – that are coming to an end – with dignity and beauty: in the comfort and warmth of their homes, at festive tables. “Importantly, [they celebrated them] under the peaceful Belarusian sky,” he stressed.
Journalists, political experts, artists, sportsmen, representatives of various professions and fields of activity, senior officials, members and heads of the Government have been invited to the reception. As noted by the Head of State, these are people who are involved into the political life of the country and the world.
“As is traditional, I would like to thank you for your work and for your position, which is a reliable support for our state in this difficult time," Aleksandr Lukashenko addressed those present. Of course, I am thankful to you for your creativity and talent. The New Year and Christmas days would not be so bright and interesting without these God-given features. While the whole of the country had a rest, you were working – at children's parties, outdoor venues, and on TV. Therefore, this is your holiday tonight! You have deserved it.”
The President also shared his views on a hot topic, “I would put it baldly: no matter what information or other agenda is imposed on us, we – Belarusians – have always built and will continue building our politics and lifestyle exclusively independently. It depends on all of us, on the three hundred persons present here, what our country will be like. No external circumstances and threats will change our goals. Creation is our goal, and we were purposefully moving from the National Unity Year to the Year of Historical Memory, being aware that the former is simply impossible without the latter. The future — good and bright — is also impossible without such concepts as peace and creation. This is how we want to see 2023: the Year of Peace and Creation – not only on our own land. Even those who opposed themselves to the state and to ‘the regime’ – as they name it – understand this now. These people – around 90 percent of all them – see a salvation for themselves in this regime at present. I already said this while visiting the church [during the Christmas service]. We are ready for this. It is up to you to determine what form this should take, and what path they would need to pass to return home.”
