Lukashenko: Belarusian people gave answer at election which path the country should follow
During the Presidential election, the Belarusian people gave an answer to the question of which vector the country should choose in its path – as stated by President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko during his today’s one-on-one talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin
The Head of State touched upon the Presidential election in Belarus, emphasising the high turnout of voters and the high percentage of support for the current course, despite the fact that there are people in the country who do not share it.
“There were restraining factors on all sides: our people were restrained from going to the polls,” Aleksandr Lukashenko noted, recalling that about 87 percent of voters cast their vote in his favour.
Actually – as noted by Aleksandr Lukashenko – that was a vote for the vector of the country’s development: ‘Are we with Russia? Is our cradle here or somewhere out there?’ “The people gave their answer,” he said.
The Belarusian leader stated that, one way or another, this is one of the main issues that has always been raised during every election. The Head of State assured Vladimir Putin that both the people of Belarus and the government of the country have always adhered to the current course. “We have always followed a course of the kind, and – importantly – our people demonstrated that. Our people understand perfectly well where our friends, opponents, enemies and rivals are,” Aleksandr Lukashenko added.
