“The modern Belarusian army is mobile, compact and equipped with the latest weapons and military hardware,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said, adding that the Belarusian military are ever improving their combat training. “While mastering new methods and ways to repel threats, including in co-operation with other law enforcement agencies, we are consistently building a territorial defence system that guarantees a nationwide nature of our Fatherland protection,” he stressed.

Special attention is paid to the military armament, and – as stressed by the President – the defence sector of the economy is actively developing in Belarus. “It unites the most high-tech industries, including rocket production. We are developing modern means of communication and automation, unmanned aircraft, small arms and ammunition, and other products of the Belarusian military-industrial complex,” Aleksandr Lukashenko explained.

The President emphasised that, over the next few years, the country plans to purchase a wide range of the latest weapons for the domestic troops. “Among them are Su–30SM aircraft (their delivery will be completed by the end of this year), several dozen helicopters, and Tor-M2 air defence systems. Currently, the issue of equipping the Belarusian Armed Forces with modern S-400 Triumph air defence missile systems is being worked out,” he said.
