Belarus has not yet finally decided exactly where to build additional nuclear power units — as stated by President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko to reporters in the Kremlin after talks with President of Russia Vladimir Putin, BelTA reports

Alexander Lukashenko said that the presidents had given the necessary instructions to the governments of the two countries. ‘They will sort it out, as the head of Rosatom told me yesterday, they will resolve these issues — the details. If there are no insurmountable circumstances, we will build the third unit or a new nuclear power plant,’ said the President.

"Personally, I straddle the fence a bit about where to build it. Either a third unit at the existing plant in Ostrovets, or somewhere in the east. Experts and the government suggest building the third unit close, as it will be cheaper. On the other hand, when such a facility is built, it facilitates the development of the entire region. Therefore, I straddle the fence a little. We can build it either there or there. I believe we will decide it in the near future,” the Belarusian leader noted.

According to Aleksandr Lukashenko, the presidents have given the necessary instructions to the governments of the two countries, “They will settle it, as the head of Rosatom told me yesterday, they will resolve these issues — the details. If there are no insurmountable circumstances, we will build the third unit or a new nuclear power plant.”
