“I am glad that Belarus is going to develop economic liaisons with the Primorsky Krai. We intend to seriously work here,” stressed the Belarusian leader.

Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that in the days of the Soviet Union, Belarus was a high-tech region, an ‘assembly shop’ with industries oriented to the huge territory.

“At that time, a surplus production was set up in Belarus. If Belarus were independent, we would never have established this,” he said.

Nevertheless, now a range of such Belarusian companies occupy significant shares in world production across several directions, for example, BELAZ.

Moreover, the President noted the high level of development of Belarus’ academic science, which boasts both fundamental and practice-oriented developments.

“A huge school was left in Belarus from the Soviet Union: from earth to space. I supported these schools and they turned out to be useful,” stated Aleksandr Lukashenko.

In this regard, there is an opportunity to develop relevant areas in co-operation with the regions of Russia, including the Primorsky Krai.

“Belarus is small, but we can transfer these competencies to this land,” added Aleksandr Lukashenko.
