Lukashenko awarded university graduates and teachers

On June 20th, President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko held an awards ceremony for graduates and teachers of higher education institutions. In total, 7 teachers and 18 graduates were honoured with the letters of commendation from the President.

Welcoming the guests of the Palace of Independence, the Head of State emphasised the longstanding tradition of meeting with outstanding university graduates and teachers at the end of the academic year.

Addressing the graduates, Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that today is a special day for them, “There is a touch of sadness in parting from the familiar walls of your alma mater, coupled with a joyful expectation of the successes that lie ahead. There is an aphorism: genius is 1 percent inspiration and 99 percent perspiration.”

The President encouraged young people to be hard-working, stating that, “Now is your golden time. Don’t be scared of challenges and complex tasks. As I always say, do everything on time and don’t put it off for later. Delaying tasks can lead to additional issues and responsibilities. Above all, don’t shy away from mistakes. Everything happens in life, including mistakes and failures. It’s often said that the only people who don’t make any mistakes are those who don’t do anything. Those who work hard and continuously seek opportunities are sure to achieve success, but they will inevitably make mistakes along the way. Nevertheless, these mistakes can strengthen you and provide the resilience needed to keep going. I hope you find it to be this way.”
