Lukashenko attends Beijing’s celebrations commemorating 80th anniversary of ending Second World War
President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko visited at Beijing’s Tiananmen Square where he alongside other world leaders attended the parade commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War

The celebrations at Tiananmen Square, including a military parade, began on September 3rd, at 9 am (4 am Minsk time). Heads of 26 states attended the celebrations. Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered a speech.
According to RIA Novosti, Wu Zeke, a spokesperson of the Joint Staff Department of the Central Military Commission, noted that 45 military units will take part in the parade. The units represent all types and branches of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, including the aerospace forces, information support troops, logistical support troops and even cyberspace troops.
Tiananmen Square is traditionally considered the symbolic heart of the Chinese nation: here, Mao Zedong proclaimed the People's Republic of China on October 1st, 1949. The square is home to the Monument to the People's Heroes and the Chairman Mao Memorial Hall (mausoleum), and is overlooked by the Great Hall of the People and the National Centre for the Performing Arts.
For a long time, Tiananmen had been the largest city square in the world. Today. Today, the main square of the Chinese capital ranks second in size in China and third in the world — it is 880 metres long and 500 metres wide, covering an area of 440,000 square metres. The square can comfortably accommodate more than 1m people.
After the parade, Aleksandr Lukashenko is expected to attend a welcoming banquet in honour of the heads of delegations on behalf of Chinese President Xi Jinping and his spouse Peng Liyuan, as well as a festive concert.
