Belarus’ President Aleksandr Lukashenko said that at today’s talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing, BelTA reports
"I am glad to discuss topical issues of co-operation with you in a friendly atmosphere and – as it has always been natural for us – to share views on certain problems of international relations. The development of comprehensive and all-weather strategic co-operation between Belarus and China is determined by the unity of our ideologies and the logic of the ongoing world events and processes,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said. “Our meeting on March 1st became crucial in many ways and set the dynamics for the whole year. Since March, more than 120 mutual visits have been organised. These have been different visits. Pleasingly, these have been the visits related to production, trade and economic relations."
The Belarusian leader stressed that the historic increase in the level of relations has given a powerful impetus to the deepening of traditional directions, giving rise to new vectors and mechanisms of co-operation.
"Belarus has been, is and will remain a reliable partner for China. I think no one in China needs to be convinced of this anymore. All this has been before my eyes over the past thirty years, and even more: I was a member of Parliament when I came to China for the first time,” Aleksandr Lukashenko added.
The President of Belarus also noted his long-term acquaintance with Xi Jinping and joint work on the development of bilateral relations. "We have great experience, we know what our countries need. We have done a lot in this regard," he said.
"We have long decided that we will co-operate and be friends with China. As I have said already, this friendship is more than 30 years old. We have never turned left or right from this path," the President stressed.
Aleksandr Lukashenko thanked Xi Jinping for the current meeting, noting that the Chinese leader has recently had a very busy schedule, with a great number of international meetings, not to mention the Chinese domestic policy issues.
"Thinking about this thesis, I thought: well, this is the burden of one of the leaders of our planet," the Head of State noted. “Therefore, I am very grateful to you for this meeting, for the promptness."
