Despite their advanced age, representatives of the generation of winners greeted the President who approached them standing. Aleksandr Lukashenko, in turn, greeted them and insistently asked them to sit back on their chairs. However, even here the veterans showed resilience. “They have completely forgotten how to follow orders,” the Head of State noted with humour. “Please, sit down. Thank you!”

During the conversation of the Belarusian leader with veterans, the words of gratitude sounded more than once, as well as wishes for many more years of life. “I repeat my order again: live, live as long as possible! Without you it will be very difficult. You see it yourself. But don’t worry, we won’t disgrace you. Thank you for everything! We owe you! Please live! You’ve already done your job. Therefore, only live,” wished the President.

Aleksandr Lukashenko also greeted the representatives of the diplomatic corps who came to the holiday, “Thank you for coming. There are true ambassadors who are not afraid of anything: either COVID, or conflicts, or wars or any attacks.”

The Belarusian Head of State also warmly welcomed other participants of the event, expressing gratitude to the artists who graced the holiday with their creative activities.
